What are the steps involved in the recruiting process?

The process starts with a review of your resume and qualifications. Based on your academic background, co-curricular activities, and work experience, we make selections for an initial interview, usually conducted on campus. This will allow us to get to know you, understand your objectives, and evaluate your core competencies. You’ll get a chance to get to know about us, too. Strong candidates are invited to a second round of interviews, in the candidate’s preferred office location when possible. Hiring decisions are typically made within two weeks of this second interview. Throughout the process, both the recruiters and the professionals you meet will stay in close contact with you.

What can I expect in my interviews?

First, we conduct a one-on-one interview. The information obtained from your academic background, work experience, application, and interview gives us an idea of the contributions you can make to our organisation. These interviews incorporate questions relating to specific situations or accomplishments that you have experienced in the recent past. The second, on-site interview is an opportunity for you to familiarize yourself with us by meeting with several professionals who will further assess your candidacy and provide you with a more complete picture of Zicom and the position you are applying for.

How can I make a good impression at my interview?

Be prepared. Understand our organisation and current industry issues so you can ask thoughtful questions. Make sure you’re prepared to articulate your professional objectives without hesitating.

Be professional. At Zicom, we pride ourselves on delivering top-notch service to our clients. Present yourself in a professional manner with respect to attire, oral and written communication, and one-on-one interaction throughout the interview process.

Be yourself. Zicom has people worldwide, each of whom brings different talents to our organisation. Don't feel the need to fit into a specific mold; we're interested in what you have to offer as an individual.

What resources are available to me throughout the recruiting process?

There are many sources of information available to you, and we recommend that you use as many as possible. In addition to our Web site and our recruiting brochure, check out other sites on the Internet, periodicals, newspapers, and libraries. Perhaps the best resource is our people. Recruiters, former interns, and alumni can help you to better understand our Zicom Champion culture by relating personal stories and answering any questions you may have.

How will I be contacted after the interview?

You will be contacted by telephone, e-mail, or regular mail, depending on your location. Be sure you know when and how you will be contacted before your interview is concluded. If you don't hear from the interviewer in the timeframe provided, it is perfectly acceptable to contact us to see where you are in the process.

What's the best way to follow up an interview?

A thank you letter is a nice courtesy. Keep thank you notes short and to the point. Thanking the interviewer for his or her time and indicating that you are looking forward to hearing from them is sufficient. If the interviewer's business card has an e-mail address on it, feel free to use this medium. If you are sending thank you letters to two or more people at the same organisation, avoid sending the same letter. Personalize each note with a reference to something specific you discussed.
